THE CAMERA
WAS ONLY
the beginning.
I’m Tymel Young, a New York based creative director and founder of Raised Media Co. I started with a single camera. The work kept getting bigger.
Photography led to video, then agency partnerships, website design, and brand design. I’m still following that curiosity. This is where the work, the personal pictures, and the thinking behind it all live.

One point of view.
A lot of good people.
Raised Media Co. grew from one camera into a creative agency working with clients across industries and around the world. Photography and video gave us our start. Partnerships, website design, and brand design expanded what we could make together.
My job is to give the work a direction and bring the right people into it. The team takes it further than I could alone. We care about what we make, how we treat people, and having a good time while we’re at it.

Nothing commissioned.
Everything noticed.
The camera stays with me. A gesture, an odd reflection, the way light cuts a building in half. There’s a whole world between the jobs.

Proposed notes on a creative practice.
Look longer.
The useful detail often appears after the obvious idea. Before deciding what something should look like, give yourself time to understand what’s already there.
Let the idea choose its shape.
A photograph, a video, a website, a company. Each one asks for a different kind of care. Choose the form that gives an idea the most room to become itself.
Care about the invisible parts.
The brief, the preparation, the way people are treated. Everything that happens outside the frame eventually makes its way into the work.
Leave room for someone else.
Good direction creates the conditions for people to contribute their full intelligence. Build the space, trust the team, share the credit.

Then makes room
for everyone in it.
